Today we had the incredible opportunity to visit the Children’s Museum of Illinois and spend time with Executive Director Rikki Parker. She gave us an inside look at the nonprofit sector through the lens of the museum—sharing their fundraising vision, upcoming initiatives, exhibit development, grant strategy, budgeting realities, and how they intentionally engage with our community.
Rikki was a fantastic speaker—transparent, knowledgeable, and passionate about the museum’s mission. She walked us through what it truly takes to sustain and grow a nonprofit organization, from securing grants to understanding the real costs behind creating interactive displays. It was a powerful reminder that behind every hands-on exhibit is thoughtful leadership, strategic planning, and strong community partnerships.
Of course, no visit to the Children’s Museum would be complete without a little fun. The kids had an absolute blast exploring the exhibits—fully embracing the experience and happily reverting back to their “Little” days. Watching them engage, create, and play was a reminder of why spaces like this matter so much.
It was a day that perfectly blended fun and education, while also being incredibly CEO-relevant. We left with a deeper appreciation for nonprofit leadership, community impact, and the vision it takes to bring learning to life.
We also had perspective Ceo students join us today for a day in the life of a Ceo student. They asked some really great questions. It was great to have them join us!
Thank you to Rikki Parker and the Children’s Museum of Illinois for such a meaningful and memorable visit!
