Today’s ropes course was about so much more than climbing and completing challenges-it was a lesson in teamwork, communication, encouragement, leadership, and trust. 🧡🖤
Our students had to listen to one another, communicate clearly, work together, and stay focused through distractions (including a LOT of wasps! 🐝😂). They learned quickly that accomplishing a goal isn’t always about what you can do-it’s about being there for the people around you and helping the entire team succeed.
It was also a great reminder that personalities really come out when we’re stressed, nervous, anxious, or pushed outside our comfort zones. Those moments teach us a lot about ourselves and about how we show up for others. I was proud of the way everyone encouraged one another and kept going.
We also learned so much about the business behind running a camp. Executive Director Gabe shared about understanding your mission, connecting your story with people, developing different revenue streams, fundraising, and finding ways to get your story out into the community.
But one of the best leadership lessons wasn’t something he simply told us-it was something he showed us. Gabe was right there helping belay our team. He wasn’t going to ask someone else to do something he didn’t know how to do or wasn’t willing to do himself.
That’s servant leadership. Lead by example. Know your mission. Tell your story. Take care of your people. And be willing to do the work alongside them.
Such a fun day of learning, growing, laughing, overcoming a few nerves-and definitely dodging a few wasps! 😆 Everyone did a great job, and days like today are exactly why CEO is so much more than a classroom. 🧡🖤.
Thank you Little Galilee camp for opening your facility to us! If you need a team building activity, check them out!
